Inter Milan are hopeful of completing a deal for Barcelona midfielder Rafinha, after game time at the Camp Nou became minimal.
The Brazilian international damaged his knee ligaments last season in the 4-1 win over Granada and has not featured for the current La Liga leaders since April.
Having undergone various recovery methods, the youngster was deemed fully fit early in December but as expected – playing time is now hard to come by due to the form of Andres Iniesta, Ivan Rakitic and Paulinho.
Having scored eight goals last season under former boss Luis Enrique, it was expected that he would be given a chance by new boss Ernesto Valverde but that is yet to happen.
Mundo Deportivo claimed last week that he would be willing to leave if his chances of playing are deemed unlikely and it is now claimed that Inter are favourites for his signature.
A reported bid of £15m was rejected by Barca on Monday afternoon but Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio is still confident of a deal.
“We’re always confident when we work,” Ausilio told Sky. “We need time to do it though.”
As with Rafinha, the futures of Denis Suarez and Andre Gomes are also questioned, with both having found playing time hard to come by this season, whilst Arda Turan left the club at the weekend for Turkish side Basaksehir.
Gomes only joined Barca last summer but he has failed to impress and has lacked minutes this season, following the arrival of Brazilian Paulinho, who scored an impressive brace against Deportivo La Coruna earlier this month.
