Rafinha has discussed his delight at signing for Inter Milan from Barcelona on an initial loan deal.

Brazilian international Rafinha damaged his knee ligaments last season in the 4-1 win over Granada and has not featured for the current La Liga leaders since April in the league.

Having undergone various recovery methods, the youngster was deemed fully fit early in December but as expected – playing time is now hard to come by due to the form of Andres Iniesta, Ivan Rakitic and Paulinho.

Having scored eight goals last season under former boss Luis Enrique, it was expected that he would be given a chance by new boss Ernesto Valverde but just one appearance since returning from injury has seen him linked with a move.

Mundo Deportivo claimed last week that he would be willing to leave if his chances of playing are deemed unlikely and it was claimed that a bid from Inter Milan was rejected by the Catalan giants.

However, following a weekend of negotiations – the Italian club have now completed the signing and the midfielder has spoken of his delight at the move to Italy.

“I’m really happy,” Rafinha told Inter TV.

“It’s a great feeling to be here. It’s an important stage in my life and I had a lot of desire to approach this new phase in my career.

“There have been a lot of important players at Inter who have made history. I want to do my best and give everything to finish as high as possible and win titles with this shirt.

“I hope to play in as many matches as possible and help the team to reach our objective, which is Champions League qualification.

“I can cover a lot of roles, be it on the right or left. I’ve chosen the number eight shirt.

“Teammates? “It’s always nice to have players who speak your language in the squad, I also know Mauro [Icardi], I’ve played with him before.”

Rafinha could now be signed and installed in Inter’s squad for their fixture against lowly Spal this weekend.
