Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois is set to become a target for Real Madrid after they missed out on Athletic Club keeper Kepa.
Madrid’s desire to sign a new first choice keeper hit a standstill on Monday morning after Basque side Athletic announced a new and improved deal for Kepa, who the Spanish champions had long been keen on signing.
Having shown interest in Belgian stopper Courtois previously, reports on Tuesday morning have seen Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain linked and that is said to have now spurred on officials at the Santiago Bernabeu into pushing forward with their interest.
The 25-year-old has been under negotiations with Chelsea over a new deal as his current one expires next June, but with a deal yet to be agreed – it is believed he could be willing to listen to other offers.
Madrid are keen to replace current number Keylor Navas and see Courtois and Manchester United’s David De Gea as the two back-up options to Kepa.
A potential move for Courtois, formerly of Atletico Madrid, could see Eden Hazard also follow after being linked with a move to the Spanish capital.
Hazard, like his international team-mate, is yet to agree a new deal at Stamford Bridge and has long been keen on playing for Los Blancos.
