The president of the Egyptian Football Association has said he expects to see Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah at Real Madrid next season.
After holding talks in recent weeks regarding potential summer transfers, Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane seems to have focused his intentions on one of the Premier League’s top performers in Reds attacker Salah, who has been impressing on all accounts in England.
Struggling to gain any real form in La Liga, it seems Madrid are lacking real fire power in front of goal this season and Zidane believes Salah could add a different and fresh approach.
Five time Ballon D’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema have failed to reach the highs of seasons previous in goals and Gareth Bale has spent most of this half of the season injured, although the Welshman did score an impressive brace against Deportivo La Coruna at the weekend.
Liverpool ace Salah has 20 goals in all competitions and is now one of the hottest properties in European football at present and Abo Rida, president of the Egyptian FA, believes he could be at the Santiago Bernabeu next season.
“There is a real possibility he will play for Real Madrid next season,” Rida said, as quoted by Estadio Deportivo.
“The Spanish club will make a big, big offer in summer and Salah is currently looking to improve his game, so it would make sense.
“It would be fantastic for Egyptian football as Madrid are popular around the club – it would be fantastic for us.”
Having had a blistering season in Switzerland with Basel, Salah moved to Chelsea in 2014 but failed to impress during his time at Stamford Bridge.
The tricky winger would then move to Serie A with Roma, where he scored 35 goals in 81 games for the Italian side, before making a move to Anfield.
