Atleti confirm two out on quiet deadline day

Atletico Madrid have confirmed the news that Argentinian midfielder, Augusto Fernández has completed a move to Chinese side Beijing Renhe. This follows on from Wolverhampton Wanderers’ announcement last night, exercising their option to ensure Diogo Jota’s loan move will be made permanent in the summer.

Earlier in the afternoon, Marca reported that the 31 year old was due to seal a move to the Super League side, managed by former Getafe boss, Luis García. British media have reported that García has also had a £7.5 million bid for Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos rejected by the Glasgow side, and with confirmation of Augusto’s arrival at the capital, the former Benidorm CF defender has probably concluded business until the summer.

Fernández began life in Spain in 2012, when he completed a move to then newly promoted side Celta Vigo from Argentine Primera División side Vélez Sársfield. He was ever present in the team, featuring 114 times for the Célticos, scoring 10 times. A move to Atleti was completed in January 2016 to provide cover for the injured Tiago. He featured in 21 league matches for the Madrid side, and recently has had to sit on the sidelines due to a serious knee injury.

21 year old Jota had signed for Los Colchoneros from Paços Ferreira, however failed to play once for the side. Last season, he was sent back home to FC Porto, where he scored 8 goals in 27 appearances. This year, Jota has been on terrific form in the Championship, scoring 11 goals in 29 league matches for a Wolves side that have impressed fans and critics alike.
