Eliaquim Mangala could return to La Liga side Valencia after Manchester City signed Aymeric Laporte from Athletic Club.
City have officially confirmed the signing of Aymeric Laporte from Athletic Club, who is delighted to have joined the Premier League leaders.
City boss Pep Guardiola has been keen to improve his defensive options ahead of what looks to be a successful Premier League title and potential Champions League run.
The English side sit comfortably at the top of the La Liga standings but Guardiola was adamant to add strength and depth in his options, having relied heavily on John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi this season so far.
Laporte’s arrival at the Etihad stadium means that both Mangala and Vincent Kompany are both now edging closer to an exit from the club.
The latter is expected to stay until the summer, but the former has been linked with Premier League rivals Newcastle and a potential loan return to Los Che.
The 26-year-old spent time on loan with Valencia last season, featuring 34 games, where he scored twice.
The Frenchman would seemingly be happy for a return to the Mestalla in order to find regular playing time ahead of his country’s World Cup campaign in Russia later this summer.
