Arsenal have signed Mesut Ozil to a new contract, seeing the German midfielder agree terms on a £350,000 per week contract extension.
The German international has penned a new three-and-a-half deal which will keep him at the club until 2021, removing any doubt that he could leave for the likes of Barcelona in the summer.
Ozil, 29, becomes the highest-paid player in the club’s history, earning £350k per week before tax.
The deal, which was signed on Wednesday, follows months of speculation linking the former Real Madrid man with a summer exit.
Joining the Gunners from Madrid in 2013 for a transfer fee of £42m, Ozil quickly became a fan favourite at the Emirates stadium, whilst his form this term has been impressive, scoring four goals and creating six in his 21 appearances.
Ozil has won three FA Cups in his three-and-a-half year spell with Emirates, whilst no other player in the Premier League since his arrival in England has had more assists or created chances.
Aside from Ozil’s new contract, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has added Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng after losing Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United earlier this month.
His other addition this month is Henrick Mkhitaryan, who arrived as part of that deal for Sanchez to United.
