Fiorentina midfielder Carlos Sanchez is close to agreeing a loan move to Espanyol, according to reports.
The report comes after Espanyol allowed Javi Fuego to leave the club for La Liga rivals Villarreal on Tuesday morning.
Fuego signed for Espanyol in 2016 from Villarreal’s neighbours, Valencia, and made 51 appearances for the Catalans during his 18 months with the club.
The 34 year old player was presented at his new club on Tuesday evening, leaving a gap in the midfield area for Espanyol boss Quique Sanchez Flores.
Flores is heavily under pressure at present, having lost at the weekend to Leganes, but a tentative move for Sanchez has now taken shape.
Sanchez, who is on a two-year loan at Fiorentina from Aston Villa is desperate to leave and find first team football.
The Colombian has fallen out of favour with the Viola this season and has made just 10 appearances in all competitions.
The 31-year-old is reportedly keen to make a move to Spain and now looks set for a six month loan to the Barcelona based club.
Meanwhile, former Espanyol defender Hector Moreno could be set for a return to Spain after Basque side Real Sociedad made a move to sign the Roma defender.
