Real Sociedad have finalised the transfer of Hector Moreno in the final hours of the transfer window on a three and a half year deal. The Mexican defender arrives in San Sebastian from AS Roma for six million euros and has been chosen as the man to replace the Athletic Bilbao-bound Inigo Martinez who left to fill the absence of Frenchman Aymeric Laporte, who this week joined Manchester City in a transfer worth 65 million euros.
Captain of the Mexican national team, the experienced defender returns to Spain after failing to dismantle the partnership held down by Kostas Manolas and Federico Fazio, which has seen his game time reduced to six games across all competitions. The 30-year old centre back leaves the Giallorossi after only six months after failing to impress Eusebio di Francesco whilst Juan Jesus has emerged as the back up option. Moreno returns to Spain having played 136 games for Espanyol between 2011 and 2015.
