Real Betis midfielder Fabian Ruiz has said he is committed to the club after penning a new and improved deal.
The talented young midfielder had been linked with a move away from the Benito Villamarin after some impressive performance on the field for Quique Setien’s side.
Barcelona had been strongly linked, whilst Real Madrid and a number of Premier League sides have also shown interest, however, that interest was put to be after the 21-year-old agreed a new deal until June 2022 earlier this week.
And, following his deal, the youngster has reiterated his desire to remain at the club for the foreseeable future.
“I am Fabian and Dani Ceballos is Dani Ceballos, we are different,” Fabian told his news conference on Thursday.
“He was my midfield partner and he is my friend, but he took a decision for his own career and I have always been clear my idea was different.
“I appreciate the interest from other clubs and the confidence they have shown in me, but Betis were always my priority and I am convinced that I have made the right decision.
“It is true that the Coach (Quique Setien) has been very important in my decision to renew, he has given me lots of advice and has placed great trust in me.
“Elche (a loan spell) helped me grow and I want to thank them and everyone else, especially my family, in showing me such support.”
Fabian has surpassed all expectations this year and has taken up the mantle from Ceballos.
The Spaniard – according to WhoScored.com ratings – is Real Betis’ second best player this season with an overall rating of 7.01, with just Joaquin ahead of him.
The 6ft 2” midfielder came through the Cantera at the Seville based club earning his first team debut in 2014.
The Spanish Under-21 star went on loan to Elche last season and played 18 times for the club. On the back of this, Betis wanted the midfielder to play a role this season and his importance has been quiet significant.
