Paris Saint Germain forward Neymar has discussed the upcoming Champions League tie with Real Madrid, saying he cannot wait to play the La Liga side.
Linked with a move to Madrid in recent months which has been encouraged by Florentino Perez and French media, the Brazilian forward is struggling to enjoy life in the French capital, having arrived last summer from Barcelona.
Claims of a bitter relationship with coach Unai Emery and forward Edinson Cavani, added with a desire to return to Spain and heavy interest from the Spanish capital – have seen the links come to the forefront of Spanish media on occasion this season.
PSG and Madrid face off against each other in the Champions League round of 16 next week and the former Santos man has discussed his excitement about facing the Santiago Bernabeu side.
“I can’t wait to play Madrid,” he said after scoring in the 3-0 win over Lille this weekend.
“We all prepare to play in matches like these. I’m very excited and I want that day to be now.”
The Ligue 1 sides run of 12 wins in 13 games sees them favourites to beat Madrid, given that the Spanish side are sitting 19 points behind Barcelona, who occupy top spot in the league.
Neymar has scored an impressive 27 goals in 26 games since his arrival at PSG from the Camp Nou and will be in full form heading into next week’s first leg, with the second leg coming directly a week after.
