Real Betis will be without Zouhair Feddal for the remainder of the season with an Achilles injury.
The Moroccan defender has been in largely impressive form this season but an injury suffered in the 2-1 home win over Villarreal will now see him miss the rest of the season and his country’s World Cup campaign this summer.
The 28-year-old could return in time for his country, but his chances of playing for Betis again are extremely unlikely this season.
Betis boss Quique Setien hauled in Marc Bartra last month and it is now expected that the former Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund man will gain more playing time, alongside either Jordi Amat or Aissa Mandi.
The weekend’s action saw striker Lorenzo Morón scored twice on his first team debut to give his side a narrow victory over Villarreal at the Estadio Benito Villamarín.
The Spaniard opened the scoring with a fine long-range effort, after Villarreal defender Daniele Bonera was red-carded for a dangerous challenge on Betis forward Rubén Castro.
Morón added his second after heading home a Fabián Ruiz cross, before away striker Carlos Bacca netted a consolation penalty.
Triumph for Betis puts them in the league’s top half for now, although they can be overtaken by chasing Leganés, Getafe, Girona, and Athletic Bilbao who are positioned closely behind Los Verdiblancos.
