Luis Enrique is set to take over from Antonio Conte at Chelsea, according to various reports in England.
Enrique, who is currently enjoying a break from football after a successful period with Barcelona – but the lure of moving to Stamford Bridge is reportedly interesting the former midfielder.
Blues boss Conte is under increasing pressure, despite winning the Premier League title last season and making a number of signings last summer.
With the Italian coach’s contract due to end in June 2019 – Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is close to making a decision over his future after a 4-1 defeat to struggling Watford at the weekend and to Bournemouth, a week previous.
The London Evening Standard reported last week that 47-year-old Enrique is set to replace him and has already held initial talks.
The report goes on to say that Brazilian Juliano Belletti, also formerly of Barca – is set to be installed as sporting director at the English club.
Chelsea will play Barcelona in the Champions League last 16 next week, and the instalment of Enrique could see him facing his former club.
In contrast to Chelsea’s recent form, Barca have been in superb form – remaining unbeaten in La Liga and the Champions League this season.
