Liverpool sign Colombian youngster and loan him to Mallorca

Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Colombian defender Anderson Arroyo, who has been sent out on loan to Real Mallorca.

The talented teenager, signed from Fortaleza in Colombia, will remain with the Islanders until June 30th, 2019 on an 18 month loan move.

The 18-year-old, who can play on both sides of defence, is an U20 international and will make his senior debut for Mallorca once his work permit has been fully obtained.

Mallorca sit top of Group 3 in Segunda B after taking a dramatic fall from the Spanish top flight.

Coached by Vicente Moreno, the Estadi de Son Moix side are expected to gain promotion back to the Segunda division this season.

Friday evening’s 5-0 thumping at the hands of Real Sociedad was the final nail in the coffin for owners of the Galician side, seeing them slip back into the relegation places and sit three points from safety, having not won in seven games in the league.

Cristobal was only promoted from the B team in October to take over at the club, but nine defeats and three wins has seen him lose his job.

Former Real Sociedad boss Martin Lasarte was heavily linked with the role, but his rejection has seen the Riazor outfit look towards former Dutch international Clarence Seedorf.
