Pablo Sarabia’s goal was enough as Sevilla beat Girona 1-0 on a tight affair at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Sunday.
Early chances in the game fell to the hosts but after losing Luis Muriel through injury, Vincenzo Montella’s side looked like they could be beaten by the ever impressive Catalan visitors.
Sergio Rico proved his ability throughout the game as the feeling inside the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan was that the home side were lucky to gain three points.
Aday Benitez had a good chance at the far post, but Rico used his big fists to parry away the effort and the Spanish keeper would be at his brilliant best moments later, denying Benitez from the spot-kick.
Montella’s side did try to get in the game and Pablo Sarabia grabbed the winner, although it was unsure whether he or Joaquin Correa got the final touch.
Sarabia, who has been in good form since the arrival of Montella as coach – could of made it 2-0 late on, but he was denied.
Rico, who was still continuously busy down the other end, was then forced to deny Portu and Anthony Lozano.
Sevilla move up to sixth place with the win, whilst Girona remain in eighth.
