Real Madrid are worried that their Brazilian sensation Vinicius Junior has become a target in his home country, Marca reports.
The Flamengo wonderkid completed a €45 million move to the Spanish capital in May 2017, he will not be able to join until his 18th birthday, which is on 12th July this year.
Yet, since the announcement was made, the Brazilian has endured some tough challenges from opponents, leaving Los Blancos fearing he could be severely injured.
While Real Madrid are concerned for their future star, they will still be unable to bring him to Spain until the summer due to international transfer rules, meaning they need to hope he remains injury-free during his time in Brazil.
Vinicius Jr’s new-found fame has attracted much attention across Brazil, with many of Flamengo’s rivals taking it upon themselves to make sure he leaves the country with several battle scars.
The Santiago Bernabeu outfit have suggested that he bulks up physically and put some weight on to help defend himself against the many challenges that he has been receiving.
Vinicius Jr came into the global spotlight after making his debut for Flamengo at just 16 years-old and has previously been compared to Neymar.
The forward played 25 times in the Brasileirao Serie A last year, netting on three occasions, but has already guided his side to the Cariorca 1 Taça Guanabara final with two goals in five games.
