The President of Atletico Madrid, Enrique Cerezo has stated that his club will not give up the title just yet. They plan to challenge league leaders Barcelona for the La Liga crown until the very end of the season.

Los Rojiblancos sit second in the league and have reduced the gap at the top of the table by four points within the past two weeks. FC Barcelona dropped points against both Espanyol and Getafe.

Cerezo has high hopes after a good run of form for Atletico Madrid this season and feels that it will go to the very end. He commented that they will be fighting for the title until the end.

“There is still a gap between us and Barcelona which could change and make things interesting”.

Even though Atletico Madrid won a tricky 1-0 away fixture to Malaga last week, Simeone believes there are areas to improve if they want to compete for the title. Atleti have grabbed 52 points from 23 games and are undefeated at the Wanda Metropolitano in La Liga this season.

Atletico Madrid’s next game in La Liga is at home against Athletic Bilbao. On the other hand, Barcelona has two difficult away games. First to Eibar in La Liga, and then a tie against Chelsea in the Champions League. The last time the two sides met, the blues came out on top.
