Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace as Real Madrid beat Paris Saint Germain 3-1 on Wednesday evening in the Champions League.
The Ligue 1 visitors took the lead through an unlikely scorer in Adrien Rabiot after a fine move which involved Brazilian attacker Neymar, who was much talked about prior to kick off.
Rabiot’s goal was followed by a domination in possession for Unai Emery’s side but a clumsy foul by Giovani Lo Celso on Toni Kroos saw Cristiano Ronaldo level the tie from the penalty spot.
It was the Portuguese international’s 10th goal in the competition this season, and he would later get his 11th after fine work from substitute Marco Asensio, who played the ball in, which deflected past Alphonse Areola off Ronaldo’s thigh.
With the game edging towards a 2-1 win for Los Blancos, Brazilian defender Marcelo would take matters into his own hands, combining well with Asensio, before hammering home Madrid’s third and a goal which gives them a massive advantage heading into the second leg at Parc des Princes.
Elsewhere in Wednesday evening’s other Champions League tie, Liverpool were too good for FC Porto, seeing Sadio Mane score a superb hat trick, along with goals from Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.
