Espanyol have seemingly given up trying to keep hold of young defender Aaron Martin, after plenty of interest from a number of European clubs.
Manchester United, Napoli and Manchester City have all been labelled with interest in the young Spaniard, who has featured for Quique Sanchez Flores’ side on 22 occasions in the league this term.
Diario Sport reported earlier this month that Los Periquitos rejected a number of bids in January, with a firm offer coming from Red Bull Leipzig, whilst Man City were close in signing the youngster.
The 20-year-old has been impressing on all counts, and it is now understood that Espanyol are resigned to losing him in the summer, with clubs looking to pay his €30m release clause at the RCDE Stadium.
Born in the Montmelo region of Catalonia, Martin began his career with his birthplace’s club before arriving at Espanyol at the age of eight.
His development saw him move up through the ranks of the club and senior debut with the B side against Gimnastic in 2015.
A season with the lower league side saw him gain recognition from the first team and he was handed a debut a year later against Villarreal, signing a new and improved deal until 2022 just days later.
The full-back has been capped at U16, U17, U18, U19 and U21 level for the Spanish national side.
