Getafe’s Juan Cala is set to make a move to the Chinese Super League, but another Spaniard – Jaime Mata, has rejected a move.
La Liga and Segunda have largely been targeted by a number of Chinese sides in recent times, having seen the likes of Jonathan Viera depart from Las Palmas just recently.
Cala, 28, is now set to join Viera in Asia, agreeing a deal to move to Henan Jianye in a €1.5m deal.
The defender has enjoyed stints in Greece, Russia and England during his career, whilst he has since become a big part of Getafe’s success this season, featuring from the start in 20 games.
Cala’s career began in Seville with Sevilla, before loan spells with Cartagena and Granada saw him move to Getafe in 2016.
The central defender’s contract was set to expire in June this year, meaning Getafe have now cashed in.
Meanwhile, Segunda striker Mata has rejected the chance to move to Zhejiang Greentown, having attracted interest after scoring 23 goals in 25 games.
It was understood that the Chinese club submitted a small bid for the striker which triggered his release clause, but the player has turned down the deal in order to try and achieve promotion with Valladolid this season.
