Las Palmas have made an official approach to sign former Sevilla playmaker Samir Nasri on a free transfer.
Having seen Jonathan Viera depart for China earlier this week, the Gran Canarian side have been granted permission by La Liga to make contact with the Frenchman.
Spaniard Viera has left a gaping hold in the club’s midfield areas, having been arguably their standout player this term.
Talk was heard on Tuesday that the club had made contact with former Rayo Vallecano veteran midfielder Roberto Trashorras, but such a deal seems to have quietened down.
Nasri spent last season on loan with Sevilla last season from Premier League club Manchester City, before moving to Turkish club Antalyaspor on a short term deal which expired in January.
Having been linked with a move to China himself, Nasri is now looking to making a return to Spain’s top flight, after two months of not playing regular football.
His potential arrival would provide Jemez with a boost as the former Rayo boss looks to haul the club out of the relegation places, sitting 18th and two points off safety.
They face Leganes on Saturday, before hosting league leaders Barcelona in the mid-week fixtures next week.
