Sergi Roberto has penned a new deal at Barcelona, which includes a £350m release clause.
The contract includes a buyout clause of 500 million euros.
Roberto becomes the second player to sign a new deal in recent days following Gerard Pique who also signed until 2022 and when reporting that to you, we here at La Liga News UK also brought you news of Roberto’s new deal, before it happened.
Sergi Roberto is a local boy having grown up in neighbouring Reus and he first played for Gimnastic Tarragona, joining Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy at the tender age of 14.
His first game for the club came in a Copa del Rey victory over Ceuta in 2010 and by 2013 he had fully joined the first team, making more and more appearances up until now. He is very much a part of Ernesto Valverde’s squad playing multiple games across different positions including right back and central midfield.
However he is most known to those who are not regular viewers of La Liga as being the man who scored the winning goal in Barcelona’s amazing 6-1 victory over PSG in last season’s Champions League when Barca overturned a 4-0 deficit from the first leg. Below is footage of that goal.
