Las Palmas managed to hang on to a precious point against Leganes, thanks mostly to their goalkeeper Leandro Chichizola who made several fine saves.
Now that Las Palmas forward Jonathan Viera finalized his €11 million move to the Chinese Super League this week, Las Palmas were hopeless in attack. The closest they came was actually off a rebound off Unai Bustinza when the ball almost rolled in.
Las Palmas coach Paco Jemez was very unhappy with his team’s performance. He claimed if they continue to play like that then they will be heading down to the Segunda Division. He said,
“I am only satisfied with what we did without the ball, of the effort, for the rest I am not happy at all. We are capable of defending well, but we do not attack well. I am responsible for not being able to find a path forward.
“Point after point we will not be able to save ourselves. We have to do more. In attack, we did very little. We have improved things, but the part that should make us win games, arrive more and pose more danger, we do not do it “
Las Palmas now travels home to face La Liga leaders Barcelona on Thursday. After Barcelona’s display on Saturday, Las Palmas fans will be very worried not to concede as many goals as Girona. Leganes will face Atlético Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano on Wednesday.
