With their goalkeeping position left sparse following Geronimo Rulli’s injury, Real Sociedad have purchased Miguel Angel Moya on a two-and half-year deal from Atletico Madrid.
He is expected to make his debut against Real Betis on Thursday having passed his medical and joined his teammates for training.
The 33-year-old went on to make 35 starts for Los Rojiblancos in his three-year spell at the Vicente Calderon, however his opportunities this campaign have been few and far between.
Moya is yet to make a La Liga appearance this season and with his only action coming in the Copa Del Rey and the Europa League 4-1 win over FC Copenhagen two weeks ago, first team football beckons.
He becomes the third player to leave Diego Simeone’s side this month after Yannick Carrasco and Nico Gaitan both parted ways and left for Chinese side Dalian Yifang.
Having seen Athletic Club reach the value of former goalkeeper Inigo Martinez’s release clause, La Real were permitted to sign one further player before Friday’s deadline.
Although Tono Ramirez was believed to be Rulli’s back up, his two appearances this term have not reached the estimations of head coach Eusebio Sacristan Mena, especially his performance in the Basques’ 2-1 loss to Valencia on Sunday.
