According to a number of reports this morning, Manchester United are monitoring Alvaro Odriozola and have sent scouts over to watch the player who is also interesting Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Sociedad currently sit in 15th position, and 22 year old Odriozola has established himself as the club’s first choice right back, featuring in all but one of La Real’s league matches this season.

The Daily Mail reports that Jose Mourinho had his staff watch the promising right back last week in the Europa League second leg defeat to Red Bull Salzburg. Antonio Valencia has made the right back position his own at Old Trafford, however the 32 year old Ecuadorian is not seen as a big part of the club’s future plans. It is thought that Odriozola would be brought in initially as cover for former Villarreal player Valencia, who extended his contract with the Red Devils until the end of next season.

According to the Metro, United’s other right back, Matteo Darmian looks set for a move to Juventus in the summer, and the arrival of Odriozola would bolster Mourinho’s defensive options.

Born and raised in San Sebastian, Odriozola signed for the Sociedad’s youth setup as a ten year old and made his debut for the first team against Malaga on the 16th January 2017.
