Racing Club striker Lautaro Martinez has discussed his future, claiming he has not signed a pre-contract agreement with any club.
The Argentine U20 striker has been impressing on all counts in his homeland, scoring 12 goals in 15 appearances this season.
With interest from Madrid duo Atletico and Real, Martinez was expected to move abroad last summer but a late scupper in a deal to the Wanda Metropolitano saw him remain in Argentina.
Italian side Inter Milan have also been labelled with interest, previously being subject to claims that they had met his release clause of £8.5m, but that figure has now been increased.
Speaking on his future, Martinez said that he will honour his current deal with the Buenos Aires club.
“I know that I’ll stay at Racing until June, then after that we’ll make the best decision for me,” Martinez told TNT Sports.
“I promised to the President that I’d renew my contract and stay until half-way through the year. I promised to increase the release clause. Everything that I promised, I maintained.
“I will go to play where I feel most at ease. I have not signed a pre-contract agreement with anyone. There are many clubs showing interest, but my agent takes care of that.
“I have to remain concentrated on Racing, as I have enormous responsibility on my shoulders. I want to keep this club 100 per cent in my thoughts.”
Having began his career with Liniers in his town of birth, Bahia Blanca – Martinez moved to Racing to continue his development, gaining respect from the Argentine national setup, where he has represented his country at U20 level, netting eight goals in 11 caps.
Interest from the aforementioned clubs, plus others, is now expected to gain pace as the summer transfer window approaches.
In the meantime, the young attacker will be hoping he can gain a place in the Argentine national squad for the summer World Cup in Russia.
