During his pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow night’s Champions League second leg match against Real Madrid, Paris Saint Germain manager Unai Emery mentioned that he hopes Zinedine Zidane fields the very best side he has available.
Former Sevilla manager Emery’s men welcome Real to the Parc des Princes having lost the first round of 16 leg in the Spanish capital 3-1 two weeks ago.
The Ligue 1 visitors took the lead through an Adrien Rabiot goal following a fine move which involved the now injured Neymar.
Cristiano Ronaldo levelled the tie from the penalty spot, the Portuguese international’s 10th goal in the competition this season. Later, he would get his 11th after fine work from substitute Marco Asensio, who played the ball in, which deflected past Alphonse Areola off Ronaldo’s thigh.
With the game edging towards a 2-1 win for Los Blancos, Brazilian defender Marcelo would take matters into his own hands, combining well with Asensio, before hammering home Madrid’s third goal which gives them a massive advantage heading into the second leg at Parc des Princes.
At his press conference, Emery stated that a strong away side is what Les Parisiens’ supporters deserve following a successful campaign. He said,
“I want to play against the best Real Madrid players.
“It’s one of the most important games of the season, and it is a unique moment for PSG supporters and for all of France. A great opportunity to take a step forward.”
Emery also confirmed that former Madrid player, Angel di Maria will start the match, with former La Liga players Thiago Motta and Lassana Diarra competing for a spot in the visitor’s midfield.
