Paris Saint-Germain’s superstar and world record transfer signing Neymar has reportedly told players, coaches and even directors at FC Barcelona that he wants to return to his former club.
The Brazilian has not settled in Paris and with his team knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid this week, he is as unhappy as ever.
Mundo Deportivo say that the forward is hoping to secure a return to the Camp Nou not this summer, but in the summer of 2019, given that it would be impossible for Paris Saint-Germain to allow him to depart only a year after arriving.
He is believed to have told former team-mates that he was wrong in wanting to step out from Lionel Messi’s shadow and lacks the understanding he had with his former colleagues.
Within Barcelona, few are keen to make such a deal happen. There is still a bitter taste from how he left the club, despite the huge 222 million euro transfer fee and a lack of trust. Many in power even believe that this is just a tactic to soften the blow when he joins Real Madrid.
In a poll on Mundo Deportivo’s website, Barcelona fans made their feelings clear with 69% of 5,000 voters saying they would not bring him back to Catalonia, compared to 31% of readers who would.
