Reports in Spanish media claim Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti is being tempted by Manchester United into a summer move.
The French international has been a constant in-form performer for Barca, so much so, that his release clause is causing problems for the Catalan club.
Upon signing from Lyon two seasons back, Umtiti was given a release clause of €60m and the likes of United have been linked with a summer move.
Red Devils’ boss Jose Mourinho is a big admirer for Umtiti, and it is now being reported that the English club could make a move, with Diario Sport claiming they would be willing to increase his wages by adding an extra €4m-per-year.
Yannick Umtiti, Samuel’s brother and agent, is said to be in contact with officials from Old Trafford, and it is claimed the centre-back would be willing to make the move after speaking to Mourinho on several occasions.
Barca are said to have already started contract renewal talks with the Cameroon-born defender, but reports claim they cannot match United’s said offer.
One hope for Barca is the partnership formed by Umtiti and Gerard Pique, who have helped the club maintain their unbeaten status in the league this season so far.
