Villarreal bounced back to form and moved back into the European places with a 2-0 win over struggling Las Palmas at the Gran Canaria stadium
Visiting boss Javi Calleja opted to change his usual formation and hand Dani Raba a start behind Carlos Bacca and his side produced a solid performance.
The first half in truth, was a largely drab affair with Raba having the best chance of the half, whilst down the other end, away keeper Sergio Asenjo had to be a in superb form to deny the lively Jonathan Calleri.
Just after the hour mark, Bacca was on hand to open the scoring after good work form former Malaga man Pablo Fornals.
The excellent Fornals and Colombian striker Bacca had chances to further the visitors lead, but it wasn’t until the very last minute that the home side’s resilience was beaten once more.
Galvez was sent off for the home side after taking out Nicola Sansone, who picked himself up and hammered home the resulting spot kick.
The result sees the Yellow Submarine keep themselves in the hunt for a European place, whilst Sevilla lost out to Valencia and Girona were victorious on Friday evening against Deportivo La Coruna.
