Atletico Madrid midfielder Vitolo has said his side will not give up on the La Liga title after beating Celta Vigo 3-0 at the weekend.
Atleti got back to winning ways as they brushed aside a lacklustre Celta Vigo to keep the gap to La Liga leaders Barca to eight points after goals from Griezmann, Vitolo and Angel Correa.
It has now been seven games in all competitions since the Wanda Metropolitano last saw their side concede and the victory maintains the seven point lead over third place rivals Real Madrid.
Vitolo who arrived from Las Palmas in January secured a start for the game and payed back his manager’s confidence in scoring.
And, the former Sevilla and Las Palmas man has touched on his side’s chances of winning the La Liga title.
“As long as it remains possible, we will fight for the title,” Vitolo told reporters post-match, as cited by Marca.
“Barca have a significant advantage in terms of points, but there are still a lot of games left and we believe anything can happen.
“Right now, I feel good and trying to make the most of the opportunities that I am given but I feel comfortable in this team and happy to be playing my part.
“We played very well against Celta and the 3-0 win reflected our display.”
Griezmann and co. travel to Russia on Thursday to face Lokomotiv Moscow in the Europa League, where they will head into the game with a 3-0 first leg lead.
Barca, who lead the league standings, beat Malaga 2-0 at La Rosaleda thanks to goals from Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho in a game which did not feature Lionel Messi after he welcomed the arrival of his third child on Friday evening.
