At the Mini Estadi in Barcelona, the two sides played out an entertaining draw which saw a late resurgence from Numancia earning themselves a point. The visitors halted a run of two defeats on the bounce with a late goal from substitute Pape Diamanka.
Barça B took the lead on 37 minutes. Numanica left back halted a maurauding run into the box by Ballou Tabla, tripping the Canadian midfielder. Carles Aleñá stepped up to take the resulting spot kick and, although keeper Aitor guessed the correct way, the Barcelona player smashed it perfectly inside the right post.
He was involved in the Catalans’ second goal, with a powerful run through the middle before playing in Abel Ruiz who had made an intelligent run and finished with great composure sliding the ball between Aitor’s legs and into the net.
Gerard’s sode looked good value for all three points but Jagoba Arrasate shuffled his pack, brining on Pere Milla and Papa Diamanka and it was this freshing up of his eleven that led to his side taking a point from this contest. Firstly, some good work on the right flank by Guillermo outfoxed two Barça defenders and he cut back and sent in a left-footed cross which was met by Milla and his header found the net by way of the post on 72 minutes.
Numancia had saved the best for last however, as fellow substitute Diamanka took full advantage of some pedestrian defending from the home side.
They failed to clear a ball into the box and Nacho laid it off for the Senegalese midfielder and he bent a perfect shot into the top right corner from the edge of the box to earn his side a share of the spoils.
The Catalans stay in 16th but Numancia drop a place to ninth despite their best efforts.
