League leaders Huesca have failed to live up to their own high standards of late.
They entered this fixture having not won in their last three matches, allowing the chasing pack to gain ground on them. Nothing from this anaemic display will give their fans reason to believe that is about to change as they dropped points in Catalonia against Reus whose form has been patchy at best.
The visitors should have probably taken the lead through Moi Gómez when he gathered the ball in the box and neatly pivoted before firing off a shot at close range, but he could only look in disbelief as Reus goalkeeper Edgar Badia got the slightest of touches with the tip of his boot to divert the ball out for a corner.
At the other end, Abdul Karim Yoda tested Alex Remiro in the Huesca goal from distance and although his shot was on target, it lacked any real conviction and was any easy take for the visiting ‘keeper.
Again, Badia’s feet were called into action as he denied Lluis Sastre and Gómez was wasteful with the follow up and he blazed it over the bar. It somewhat summed up a lacklustre performance from Rubi’s side which will frustrate him and life does not get any easier for them as they entertain red-hot Sporting in Monday night’s big match at El Alcoraz.
Reus take advantage of Almería’s defeat against Rayo to jump into 14th spot.
