Real Madrid set to copy Barca and raid Arsenal for young talentMarch 13, 2018
Real Madrid are looking to follow Barcelona in bringing a young talent from Arsenal to the club this summer.
Reiss Nelson is reportedly a target for Los Blancos, who have been watching the 18-year-old take his chances in the first team at the Emirates stadium, playing a total of 14 appearances, with eight coming in the Europa League this season.
The winger’s current deal at the North London club expires in June 2019, and that is said to have prompted Madrid to make a move, much like Barca did with midfielder Marcus McGuane, who made his first team debut last week against Espanyol in the Copa Catalunya.
Nelson joined Arsenal’s academy at the age of nine, developing through the ranks, before being handed his debut in 2017.
In May 2016, Nelson was part of the England national under-17 football team that reached the quarter-finals of the 2016 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, playing four games and scoring three goals
Should no move be made by Madrid, Nelson is subject to be loaned out by the club with Arsene Wenger keen for him to join another Premier League side to gain first team football and experience.
Nelson is likely to be loaned out along with Eddie Nketiah, who is also attracting interest from a number of clubs.
