Real Madrid will face competition from Liverpool for the signing of Roma goalkeeper Alisson in the summer, according to Don Balon.
The Brazilian has impressed in Italy, becoming one of the best in the world, with his performances attracting many suitors.
Los Blancos have previously been linked with ex-Atletico Madrid shot-stopper David de Gea and Thibaut Courtois of Chelsea, but their poor displays in the Champions League have led them to look elsewhere.
Among World’s best
Alisson has been a part of a new-look Roma side that reached the Champions League quarter-finals this week, and now has an €80 million price tag on his head.
Yet, the Brazilian’s performances, which have included 12 clean sheets in 28 Serie A matches, are not the only reason Real Madrid are attracted to signing him.
His compatriot Neymar could be on his way to the Spanish giants, but wants to be surrounded by some of his countrymen at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, with Alisson among them.
The 25-year-old would be expected to become a long-term replacement for former Real star Iker Casillas, with current number one Keylor Navas always believed to be keeping the position warm for a more permanent goalkeeper.
Lacking top-quality keeper
Liverpool have not had a solid shot-stopper since Spain international Pepe Reina, who left for Bayern Munich in 2014, now rolling back the years at Napoli.
Their current crop include Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet, but both have been prone to errors, with the club looking to find a new number one that will help bring back the glory days.
Having sold Philippe Coutinho for €160m in January, they still have money left over and are expected to use some to purchase Alisson, should they manage to outbid last year’s Champions League winners Real Madrid.
