Levante boss Paco Lopez has praised the club’s fans after the 2-1 win over Eibar on Friday evening, saying the victory for them.
The win lifted the home side to 17th in the league standings and seven points clear of the relegation places.
New boss Paco Lopez also marked the win as his second in as many games after being hauled in as manager two weeks ago, and he has taken time to applaud the club’s fans for their constant support.
“The fans have been brilliant and the victory is for them, ” he told reporters following the game. “Following football, you can suffer a lot, but they always remain faithful to us.”
Eibar started the better of the two sides but they failed to take the lead through their best chance, when Kike Garcia’s effort went wide.
The deadlock was broken however, when Roger Marti profited off some superb wing play and tapped home.
Play then opened up as Eibar began to play but they found former Barcelona keeper Oier Olazabal in good form.
Charles and Takashi Unai entered the pitch for the away side in the second half and they looked a different threat and it was the former who got his side back on level terms after a corner in the 63rd minute.
Whilst most expected the game to then end in a draw; Emmanuel Boateng took full advantage of a mistake and restored the home lead, just one minute after the leveller.
“Mentally the team is prepared to achieve our goal and we will continue trying. We are brave and daring to do that,” Lopez added.
With the international break now upon us, Levante will take time to prepare for the fixture against Girona in two weeks time.
