Zinedine Zidane: Cristiano Ronaldo has tremendous ambition

Zinedine Zidane had nothing but praise for Cristiano Ronaldo, as the Real Madrid superstar destroyed Girona in a 6-3 hammering.

The Portugal international netted four times, while also setting up Lucas Vazquez, with Gareth Bale scoring to join the party.

Cristhian Stuani got a brace, while Juanpe added a third for the visitors to Santiago Bernabeu, but the damage had already been done and Girona could not replicate their 2-1 victory over Los Blancos in October.

CR7 = Goals

“Ronaldo has tremendous ambition. There’s nothing else you can say about him,” said the Real Madrid manager.

“When Cristiano’s feeling good, the team are very good. He transmits good energy to the team.”

Despite a poor start to the season, Ronaldo has scored 35 goals in all competitions in this campaign, including 17 in his last eight matches.

“If he has to take a penalty in training, he will with maximum concentration. That’s what makes him different to the others,” Zidane added.

Zidane praises attacking duo

Yet, it was not just the Portugal attacker that received praise from the Frenchman, with Marco Asensio and Lucas Vazquez also getting on his good side.

The pair are often back-ups to the likes of Ronaldo and Bale, but have played 49 times between them in the league this season, with a combined 10 goals.

“If they are in the side it is because they deserve to play and because they are doing very well,” said Zidane.

Following the upcoming international break, Real Madrid travel to Gran Canaria to face relegation battlers Las Palmas, but the duo will be eyeing a starting place in the Champions League quarter-finals against Juventus, with the first leg in Italy on 3rd April.
