Andres Iniesta considers Neymar return “difficult”

Barcelona captain Andres Iniesta has played down the chances of a return to the Camp Nou for Brazilian forward Neymar who is reportedly unsettled at Paris Saint-Germain.

Speaking to El Larguero, a radio show on Cadena Ser, Iniesta was asked a variety of topics including his future and whether he will remain with Barcelona or accept an offer from China.

He was also asked about Neymar and where he sees the Brazilian come next season. Iniesta said, “To be honest, Neymar’s future is not something I’m thinking about.”

He went on to say that he would be surprised if Neymar returned to the Camp Nou. “Normally, when you leave somewhere it’s difficult to go back. For that reason, it would surprise me more if he returned rather than going to another team, but we will see.”

Given Iniesta’s comments, it sounds like a return to Barcelona for Neymar is unlikely despite players like Ivan Rakitic saying the door is always open for his return.

It’s been heavily rumoured that the PSG star is considering leaving the Parisian side in order to join Real Madrid. Diario Sport also has an article stating that the player’s agent is mulling over an offer made by Florentino Perez.

When asked what he thought about Neymar potentially joining Real Madrid, Iniesta responded, “If they sign him, Madrid would land one of the best in the world. But we would still have a squad which I consider better.”

The Brazilian has not enjoyed his time at PSG despite being the main man. There were rumours that Neymar regretted his move to PSG and was already sounding out Barcelona players and executives about a potential return.

PSG’s exit in the first knockout stage against Real Madrid was a huge blow for him and the club as winning the Champions League was one of the main reasons PSG spent so much money on him.

It looks like it’s going to be another summer where Neymar’s future will be the topic of conversation. This time, however, the next stop on his journey might be the Spanish capital.
