Gerard Pique and Sergio Ramos will partner up for Spain this summer in Russia as the Barcelona and Real Madrid men look to win the World Cup.
The two defender’s have been at a war of words over the past few years, having been at logger heads in La Liga for their respective clubs.
Whilst, Spanish press love to cast doubt over their relationship, both Pique and Ramos have said that they are actually quite good friends and Lopetegui will be hoping they can partner up and remain professional in Russia.
Both approach the summer with an abundance of experience, having gained 94 and 149 international caps.
Baring any injuries to the key duo, Lopetegui does have a number of good options in reserve.
Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta has been in good form, having been transformed to a centre-back of late, plus – Real Madrid’s Nacho is a good option to have as back-up.
Previous call-ups to Marc Bartra, who has been out of form for Real Betis, plus Nacho Monreal of Arsenal could also come again, but it is likely Pique and Ramos will remain at the forefront of any plans.
