Atletico Madrid defender Filipe Luis has returned to light training after an injury, but keeper Jan Oblak is not ruled out.
Brazilian defender Filipe Luis suffered a broken leg against Lokomotiv Moscow before the international break in Atleti’s Europa League clash, but after a successful operation and a recovery period – it has now been confirmed that he has returned to light training duties.
Initial fears were that the defender could miss the rest of the season and his country’s World Cup campaign this summer in Russia.
And, whilst it remains the case that he will miss the rest of the season for the Spanish side; hopes are now alive that he could represent his country this summer.
Whilst the news of his recovery is positive for both club and country; Jan Oblak’s injury whilst on international duty with Slovenia has seen him return to Madrid.
The Slovenian missed both legs of the Europa League clash with Lokomotiv Moscow due to a groin injury and it is now feared he has suffered the same injury.
Atleti confirmed over the weekend that he will now be assessed by club doctors, with Argentine keeper Axel Werner set to replace him this coming weekend.
