Karim Benzema hits four for Castilla against Argentina U20’s

Karim Benzema scored four goals, as Real Madrid’s ‘Castilla’ side romped to a 6-1 victory against Argentina’s U20’s.

The Castilla team played Benzema and Luka Modric, as they ran riot against the youth side at Valdebebas.

With most of Madrid’s first team on international duty, struggling Benzema has more time to impress boss Zinedine Zidane. And the striker duly obliged, racking up four goals in an emphatic win for his side.

The Frenchman has come under heavy criticism from fans, with just four league goals this season. Though Zidane is still in support of the player who continues to shows he is a team player, with eight assists.

Originally, Zidane saw the international break as the perfect opportunity to recover Benzema’s scoring touch. While the striker’s unselfish game benefits 22-goal man Cristiano Ronaldo, Zidane expects more goals from Benzema.

Having not featured for France since 2015, Benzema is in contention to a recall for the national side, but has fallen down the pecking order. Olivier Giroud, Antoine Griezmann, Anthony Martial and Kylian Mbappe have all seen the 30 year-old struggle for a place.

While, the Frenchman looks unlikely to feature at this years World Cup, his place at Real Madrid is also uncertain. Los Blancos continue to monitor Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski.

The European champions acknowledge their ageing frontline will soon need surgery and both Benzema and Gareth Bale are under threat.
