Real Madrid were comfortable 3-0 winners at struggling Las Palmas despite missing a number of first team regulars including Cristiano Ronaldo.

Las Palmas are in desperate need of points at the bottom in their battle to avoid relegation and it was they who threatened first, Alen Halilovc working space for the shot which had to be forced away by Keylor Navas.

Real soon found their feet however and really should have scored through Marco Asensio but his shot was kept out well by Leandro Chichizola.

They wouldn’t be denied for long however and took the lead after 26 minutes when Luka Modric’s sublime through ball set Gareth Bale free down the left and the Welshman made no mistake as he fired a left foot shot high past the keeper.

Number two came before half time when Lucas Vazquez was tripped in the box by Jonathan Calleri giving Karim Benzema the chance to make it two from twelve yards which he did with no mistake.

Bale was then caught late by Ximo Navarro after taking a shot and Madrid were awarded another penalty, Bale this time stepping up to strike beyond Calleri.

Benzema somehow passed up an opportunity to make it four when from Vazquez’s square ball he was denied by Chichizola from six yards before the ball bounced out for a goal kick.

Calleri saw his header tipped over by Navas as the hosts tried to get a consolation but Real Madrid held on to their clean sheet for what was a relatively stress free afternoon.

Las Palmas now find themselves seven points adrift of Levante at the bottom with relegation looking more and more likely with each passing minute, Real stay third.
