Barcelona have been told by Ajax representatives that defensive target Matthijs de Ligt has interest from Premier League side Arsenal.
The Dutch defender has been on the radar of Barca chiefs for some-time, having had scouts from the Catalan club visit Amsterdam to cast an eye over his performances.
The 18-year-old has made his defensive place in the Ajax team solid, whilst his international presence is also developing, having played over last week for Netherlands against England and against Portugal.
A reported move to the Camp Nou has since been on the cards, but it is now being reported that Arsenal are showing increased interest.
The Gunners want to overhaul their squad and see the young Dutchman as a good young option to bolster their defence.
Barca are fully aware of the interest from the Emirates stadium, having been told by Ajax officials that they must move faster to make a solid offer.
Whilst, Ajax have been forthright with their comments, it is understood that they want to keep hold him for a longer period and have offered him an improved deal.
Di Ligt, is high on Barca’s list of potential summer signings, prompting speculation Thomas Vermaelen could be allowed to leave the club, whilst Samuel Umtiti’s growing interest from Manchester United could also further prompt a move.
