Juventus 0-3 Real Madrid: A third successive Champions League title now looks likely…..April 4, 2018
Real Madrid’s quest for a third successive Champions League title took a huge step on Tuesday evening as they beat Juventus 3-0 in the first leg of their quarter final tie.
Cristiano Ronaldo made history with his first goal of the night, prodding home Isco’s cross to become the first player to score in 10 consecutive Champions League games.
Juventus did have chances to equalise following the former Manchester United forward’s opener, but the likes of Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain fell short with their chances.
Toni Kroos had a great change of doubling Real’s lead when he hit the crossbar with a 25-yard effort, but the visiting side had little time to wait until Ronaldo gave them a two-goal advantage.
Dani Carvajal burst down the flank, before lifting a cross to Ronaldo, who rose in the air and sent a superb scissor kick past a helpless Gianluigi Buffon.
Juve, who have been in relatively good form of late – looked jaded and they were even more so, when Dybala was sent off for a second yellow card – meaning he will now miss the second leg.
Brazilian Marcelo rubbed even more salt in the wounds as he scored a third for Madrid, all-but sealing their place in the semi-finals for another season.
