Sevilla boss Vincenzo Montella has said Clement Lenglet is good enough to play for Barcelona after the Catalan club made contact.
The 22-year-old defender has impressed for the Andalusian side this season, despite their inconsistencies in the league and interest from Barca has since been made public knowledge.
Lenglet will come against Barca on Saturday evening in the Copa del Rey final – where it is expected officials from the league leaders will cast an eye over his performance.
Lenglet arrived at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in January 2017, signing a deal which included a €45m release clause.
Diario Sport report that contact has been made by Barca over the Frenchman’s availability, whilst it is claimed that Real Madrid and a whole host of Premier League sides are said to have shown interest.
Barca, despite signing Colombian defender Yerry Mina in January, are keen to bolster their defensive options with both Mina and Thomas Vermaelen expected to depart this summer.
Following the report, Sevilla boss Vincenzo Montella spoke about Lenglet’s ability and said he is good enough to play for the Camp Nou side.
“He is a champion with a strong mentality and in the future he can definitely play for Barcelona,” Montella told reporters on Monday.
Sevilla and Barca will go head to head at the Wanda Metropolitano this coming Saturday in the Copa del Rey final.
