Paris Saint Germain boss Unai Emery has said he would like to return to Real Sociedad as boss in the future.
Sociedad sacked Eusebio Sacristan after the defeat to Getafe last month and replaced him with B coach Imanol Alguacil until the end of the season.
And, reports have been flooding in that Emery, who could be axed from the Ligue 1 club – could return.
Eusebio took charge of La Real in 2015 and guided them to sixth place last term – but inconsistency has been a key part to their failings this season.
Emery, is under pressure after failing to move past Spanish opposition in the past two seasons in the Champions League, even having spent big on the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar over the summer.
PSG have sealed the Ligue 1 title this term, but the club’s hierarchy are now said to be considering a fresh approach for next season, having their eyes firmly on the Champions League prize.
And, following talk of an exit – Emery has chosen to discuss a potential return to the Anoeta.
“I have always liked La Real, whether that is right now or in the future,” Emery is cited as saying by Marca.
“Real Sociedad have always had an important place in my heart; it is where I spent ten years and it is where I grew up.
“I do not know if one day I will return to the club in a professional capacity but it is my intention to do so at some point in the future.
“Right now at PSG we are growing from patience and through solidity, we have the ambition of getting stronger every year and translating our success in France to Europe.”
The 46-year-old spent six years at the club during his playing career before managerial spells with Almeria, Valencia, Sevilla and then eventually to Paris.
