Ernesto Valverde is considering leaving Barcelona at the end of the season, according to reports in Spain.
The former Athletic Bilbao coach arrived at the Camp Nou last summer from the Basque club and has led them to a currently unbeaten league campaign, matched with a Copa del Rey success, beating Sevilla 5-0 on Saturday.
Diario AS are amongst those Spanish reports who claim Valverde is considering his future, citing reports that the relationship between the coach and the Catalan club’s board is – strained.
This is said to have developed even worse following the Champions League exit to Serie A side Roma, where after holding a 4-1 first leg lead – Barca were pegged back and beaten.
Valverde has a current deal with Barca until the summer of 2019, but with just five games left – he is now considering calling time on his stint at the club.
Conflicting reports about his relationship with the current squad are also being heard in Spain – with some reports claiming Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi are at odds with the Spanish tactician – whilst others claim he is supported.
Barca could be set for a change this summer as Andres Iniesta seems set to end his career at the club, having been linked with a move to the Chinese Super League.
