Levante produced a superb result at San Mames to beat Athletic Bilbao and all-but ensure their La Liga safety.
The visitors had all the pressure on their shoulders before kick off, knowing that Clarence Seedorf’s slow improving Deportivo La Coruna were getting some points on the board.
Athletic – who have been a far cry from their usual best this season, have very little to play for at this point of the season and Jose Angel Ziganda’s side looked a shadow of their former selves, despite taking the lead.
Arguably their most in-form player this season – Raul Garcia, was on hand to head home the opener but the goal only proved as a spur for the visitors, who produced a remarkable turnaround.
Macedonian midfielder Enis Bardhi has not been that frequent a goalscorer this season, but when he does find the back of the net – they are delightful to watch.
Bardhi netted almost identical free-kicks just before the stroke of half time to gain an applause from some sections of the home crowd.
Jose Luis Morales capped Levante’s victory in the final minutes after a superb run from his own half, sealing an all important three points.
It was the fifth win in their last seven games and now opens up a nine point gap to Deportivo, who have four rounds left to do the unthinkable.
