Mikel Arteta could replace Arsene Wenger this summer at Arsenal after the French boss called time on his career with the Premier League club.
Wenger released a statement last week saying he would be leaving the North London club come the end of the season, ending a reign of 22 years in charge of the club.
Whilst many Arsenal fans have called for his departure of late – the club must now look for a replacement, who will have some big boots to fill.
Former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has been linked in Spanish and English media, citing a desire to get back into the game after a year long sabbatical.
Former midfielder Patrick Vieira, who works for Manchester City at present as youth team coach – has also been linked.
However, fresh reports on Tuesday morning are linking another Man City employee to the role in Mikel Arteta.
Arteta, who has been playing a shadow role to Pep Guardiola this season has had instant success, helping the former Barca coach to a Premier League title with City.
Having played for Arsenal during his career, Arteta knows the club and has a bond with a number of squad members – making his potential arrival – a realistic one.
