Real Betis are leading the race to re-sign Dani Ceballos this summer from Real Madrid in a €16m deal, say reports in the Spanish press.
It has been a woeful season for Ceballos at the Santiago Bernabeu, having had a weight of expectation on his shoulders prior to his move last summer.
A summer battle between Barcelona and Madrid last summer ensured Ceballos would leave Betis, but given his lack of playing time at the club – a move away from Los Blancos is now on the verge of happening.
Numerous reports in Spanish press – claim that a deal to see Ceballos back at Betis would include a buy-back clause should Madrid change their mind on the midfielder.
Ceballos has started just three games for the La Liga side, and has become increasingly frustrated by a lack of playing time under coach Zinedine Zidane.
Failed return in January
Betis tried to make a move for Ceballos during the January transfer window but Spanish Football Association rules halted such a return, given that the Spanish youngster had already registered for a top flight team this season.
Ceballos, who played 105 times for Betis – came to fame with his performances for the Spanish national setup, having won the European Championship in 2015 with the U19 side and when he was named Player of the Tournament in the same competition two years later.
